The “Hidden Price of Drugs”

The New York Times and several other media outlets covered the story about the release of a new drug called Dificid, that will be prescribed to treat diarrhea cause by a certain bacterium. The media outlets the wrote about the new drugs release used it to illustrate the price gouging the many of the leading pharmaceutical companies subject American patients to, the leading reason why drugs costs are higher in the U.S than anywhere else in the world.

In the Times, it was disclosed that the new drug would cost $2800, about twice the cost of the currently approved FDA drug. The story called “The Hidden Price of Drugs,” goes on to describe how whenever a press release for a new drug is sent out by one of the Big Pharma companies, they usually try to hide the often outrageously expensive costs of the new treatments compared to the lower costs of the drugs they are trying to replace.

The lack of price transparency or allowing American’s to have access to information on whether more affordable older drugs that are available in generic versions is part of what drives the prescription costs so high in the United States. At CanadaDrugs.com, we will offer the prices of brand, and more affordable generics whenever possible and offer the choice of looking at international generics options to save money.
